What Is a Centrifugal Pump?
A centrifugal pump is a type of centrifugal application pump that uses the centrifugal force of the blades.
There are other types of centrifugal force-applied pumps, such as turbine pumps, borehole pumps, and centrifugal pumps.
All of these pumps are designed to impart energy to a fluid (water or other liquid) by moving the flow of water in a circumferential direction by the central shell of the blades due to pressure changes caused by the centrifugal force of the blades while the impeller is rotating at a high speed in the water.
Principle of Centrifugal Pumps
A centrifugal pump uses a vane shape, also called an impeller, based on a spiral involute curve to convert pressure inside a spiral case into energy, which is then extruded from the discharge port, generally by the fluid itself, such as water, due to the velocity imparted to its impeller. .
A centrifugal pump, also called a volute pump because its body is volute-shaped, has a casing (volute chamber) around the rotating impeller, and the velocity of water leaving the impeller is gradually decelerated and converted into pressure as it passes through the volute chamber.
The advantages of centrifugal pumps are that they are small, suitable for high-speed rotation, can be used for a wide range of discharges and heads, and the discharges are continuous and uniform.
