This section provides an overview for transmitters as well as their applications and principles. Also, please take a look at the list of 120 transmitter manufacturers and their company rankings.
Table of Contents
A transmitter is a device that transmits information, measured by sensors to other machines. The main physical quantities transmitted are pressure-related information, such as pressure, differential pressure, and pressure fluctuation, and transmitters are generally pressure-related products. Transmission methods include pneumatic signal transmission by changing air pressure, electrical signal transmission using electrical signals and transmission lines, and optical signal transmission using optical fiber cables.
A transmitter is used in plants, water treatment plants, and wastewater treatment plants. They are connected to pipes and ducts to measure the pressure, liquid level, flow rate, temperature, and other information of the fluid flowing through them and transmit it to external devices. When selecting a transmitter, the measurement range, measurement accuracy, and transmission method should be considered. Some products have processors inside that serve to switch or control the operation of other devices based on the measured information, which should also be considered.
This section describes the principle of operation of transmitters. A transmitter consists of a sensor section for measuring pressure and other parameters, a processing section for converting sensor information into electrical signals, and a transmission section for transmitting the converted electrical signals.
During operation, sensors such as diaphragms, thermopiles, and transducers transmit information, such as pressure, flow rate, and temperature, as electrical signals to the processing section. The processing section converts the information sent from the sensors into electrical signals for transmission. Some products have a built-in processor in the processing section, which simultaneously generates control signals for other devices based on information obtained from the sensors. Then it sends them as electrical signals to the transmission section for transmission. In the transmission section, the signals are transmitted to other devices by air pressure, electrical signals, or optical signals. The transmission method using air pressure is characterized by low noise, since the signal is transmitted by air pressure, but the transmission time is longer. Transmission using electrical or optical signals may generate noise in places with large vibrations, but is characterized by high transmission speed.
