The diaphragm describes a diaphragm widely used as part of the machinery structure, including sensors, valves, and pumps. The flexural part is often made of rubber, and the wetted part is often made of fluoroplastic.
The diaphragm is driven by various motive forces such as electricity, air, or hydraulic pressure. Since the diaphragm is an elastic membrane, they are also used in pressure recognition and blockage. Incidentally, since it is meant to be a diaphragm, the diaphragm, which moves up and down under the lungs, plays the same role.
There are three primary diaphragm-based devices: pumps, valves, and sensors. One type of pump is the diaphragm pump. The diaphragm's elasticity is used to depressurize and pressurize the casing repeatedly.
A valve is called a diaphragm valve. The diaphragm's elasticity is used to close the flow path.
Sensors include differential pressure level meters. The pressure from the liquid in contact with the diaphragms is measured through the diaphragms.
In the diaphragm pump, one part of the casing is the diaphragm. The diaphragms are repeatedly pushed and pulled by air or electric power. By doing so, suction and delivery are repeated on the suction side and the delivery side, respectively. The disadvantage is that pulsation occurs.
Diaphragm valves have diaphragms in the flow path. Turning the handle lowers the shaft, and the diaphragms are extended. The extended diaphragms block the flow path. It is therefore used for flow control. It is characterized by low fluid resistance.
A differential pressure level gauge is a sensor that recognizes the deformation of the diaphragms as pressure. The pressure gauge is attached to the bottom of a tank or the like. The diaphragms are then subjected to the head pressure from the mounting position to the liquid surface level. The pressure is converted to an electrical signal. Since pressure is generated per the liquid surface height, the signal can be used as the liquid level in the tank.
