A rod end is a type of bearing, also called a spherical plain bearing, which is shaped like a pillow block that is vertically extended to accommodate a bearing.

When connecting parts, both ends of a shaft called a connecting rod are inserted into the holder part of the rod ends. Both ends of the holder and the connecting rod are threaded so that the distance between the connecting rod and the holder can be adjusted by tightening the screws.
The rod ends bushing has a built-in bearing and a large hole in the center. By inserting a bolt into the hole and clamping the part with a nut, the part can be connected to the rod ends. In some cases, vertical links are used to connect the driving, and the driven rod ends together.
The part with a built-in bearing into which a bolt or nut can be inserted vertically is called the bushing part, and the part that is threaded and can be connected to other parts that are also threaded is called the holder part.
There are two types of holder parts: male thread type and female thread type. The male and female threads are used depending on which structure is used for the end of the connecting rod or other parts to be inserted into the holder section.
The bushing part can be oil-supplied or non-oil-supplied. The lubricated type has a grease nipple like a pillow block, and grease can be injected through the nipple using a grease gun or the like. Since the oilless type does not require grease injection, it is ideal for use in places where oil is frequently used, such as food machinery, or in tight spaces that are inaccessible. The oilless type is a suitable component for constant loading in one direction, while the oiled type is suitable for locations where frequent loading from multiple directions is applied.
