■What Is Copper Plating?

Copper plating has a soft coating that is easy to polish, and is used for industrial thick deposits, electroforming, carburizing-prevention coatings, and more.

■Features of Copper Plating

① Applicable to aluminum, ferrous materials, titanium, resin materials, etc. ② High thermal conductivity ③ Excellent electrical conductivity ④ Excellent luster (decorative quality) ⑤ RoHS Directive compliance available In industrial applications, it is used for printed wiring boards, precision electroforming, printing rolls, copper foil manufacturing, carburizing prevention, and more.

■Types of Copper Plating

Copper plating is broadly divided into three types. ・Copper sulfate ・Copper cyanide ・Copper pyrophosphate 【Copper Sulfate】 Copper sulfate plating uses relatively inexpensive raw materials, allowing plating at a lower cost than other types of copper plating. Its ductility and excellent leveling action make it widely used as an undercoat for decorative plating. 【Copper Cyanide】 It provides a dense plating layer and excellent uniform electrodeposition. Therefore, copper can be deposited cleanly even on materials with complex shapes. It can also be plated directly onto iron substrates and zinc die castings, which were difficult with copper sulfate plating. Since it affects the base metal less through plating (erosion, etc.) than copper sulfate plating, it is also often used as an undercoat plating. 【Copper Pyrophosphate】 Copper pyrophosphate plating is less toxic than copper cyanide plating and has high leveling properties, so it is widely used in industrial fields. Copper plating is often used as an undercoat plating. Since the properties differ by type, it is important to select the appropriate plating according to the material and required properties when performing copper plating.
