About This Product

Plating is a type of surface treatment in which the surface of a metallic or non-metallic material is coated with metal. Plating gives products a beautiful finish. It can also add various other properties, improving durability and corrosion resistance. CROMAX, developed in-house by Chunichi Craft, is a coating that advances hard chrome plating. With a dense structure and crystal orientation in three directions, it offers improved hardness and wear resistance compared with conventional chrome plating. We provide various surface treatments including CROMAX, hard chrome plating, electroless nickel plating, zinc plating, and black oxide finishing. Our strength lies in our in-house developed product CROMAX. Its hardness ranks highest among electroplated coatings, and in friction coefficient measurements, the wear area is drastically reduced to about 1/15 that of hard chrome.

■What Is the Proprietary Coating "CROMAX"?

CROMAX is a next-generation plating coating developed in-house for long life and high durability. Compared with conventional hard chrome, hardness is increased by 20% and wear resistance is 2 to 3 times higher. Furthermore, as a low-temperature process at 49±1°C, it achieves ultra-high hardness with no concern about distortion. The crystal structure of CROMAX is fine and grows in three directions, making it more complex than conventional unidirectional chrome coatings and able to withstand loads from multiple directions.

■Advantages of CROMAX

Its advantages are high hardness and the wear resistance obtained from that property, while its mold releasability and corrosion resistance, the other properties of hard chrome plating, are nearly equivalent. Rather than plastic or rubber molds that require releasability, it is suited to press dies and machine parts that require high hardness, wear resistance, and sliding properties, providing higher durability and stable productivity.
