Principle of Flat Springs
The principle of flat springs can be modeled on the "beam calculation" studied in Mechanics of Materials.

For more specific calculation methods, JIS B 2713 (Design formulas and specifications for flat springs) provides descriptions for various types of flat springs.
In practice, there are cases where it is difficult to obtain the results using the classical solution method described above, and efforts to enhance the design system by utilizing finite element analysis (FEM analysis), etc., are generally spreading.
In such cases, the solution obtained is not consistent depending on the material properties, church conditions, and analysis method (non-linear) to be used for the analysis, so a method that suits the purpose is necessary.
In addition, the accuracy of the spring constant and load of an actual flat springs are affected by the processing accuracy of the spring.
Therefore, considering the low material elongation that affects the bend formability, materials whose hardness is tempered by cold working or heat treatment are often used.
