A chain bolt is a fastening component used for lifting equipment or devices using a chain.
One side has a male thread and is directly fastened by screwing it to the device.
On the other side is a head with a hole drilled through it. This hole is secured using a coupling link for the chain.
The connection must be made so that the load is applied in the axial direction of the chain bolt. The bolt may be damaged if the load is applied at an angle to the axis or from a 90-degree direction.
Chain bolts connect chains and adjust the tensile strength on construction sites and in factories.
For example, on construction sites, chain bolts are sometimes used when chains are used to support scaffolding for work.
Chains are widely used in various applications, from bicycles and motorcycles to industrial machinery and car engines.
In these situations, chain bolts are useful because chains must be connected to equipment.
When chains are used to pull objects in factories, chain-connecting parts are necessary.
To connect two chains, a turnbuckle is used.
Turnbuckles were initially used to adjust the tension of ropes and wires, and in the case above, they can be used to adjust the chain's tensile strength.
On the other hand, the component used in the turnbuckle is the chain bolts.
As mentioned in the overview, since the chain bolts are threaded on one side (called single-ended), the chain's tensile strength can vary depending on how tight it is.
Note that the bolt may have either a right-hand or left-hand thread in the direction of rotation.
The chain bolts can be used by themselves, secured through the threaded hole, and lifted by fastening the bolt and chain together.
Chain bolts are mainly made of iron or stainless steel and are capable of withstanding high loads.
Different types have different load-bearing values, and care should be taken to ensure that those with a rust-proof finish have higher strength and load-bearing capacity.
