What Is a Bearing Lock Nut?
A bearing lock nut is one of the parts used to secure a bearing to a shaft.
Bearings are usually used by placing the shaft inside. In doing so, it is often used to hold the width of the bearing so that the bearing does not shift from its designated position on the shaft.

Principle of Bearing Lock Nuts
The shape of bearing lock nuts is a larger version of the bolt and nut (hexagonal nut on the outside) commonly used in DIY and other applications, with a circular outside and several notches in the axial direction of the outside diameter. This shape allows for an easier ability to tighten the nut with a jig and tool.
The washer used in the set is a larger version of the washers that are inserted into bolts used in DIY and other applications, but it has a convex shape like a tongue at one location on the inside of the inner diameter.
A groove is machined into the shaft where this convex shape is inserted on the surface where the washer contacts the shaft, and by inserting the convex shape into the groove, the washer and nut are prevented from rotating relative to the shaft, thereby preventing the nut from loosening.
By using the nut to position the bearing to be pressed in the axial direction and controlling the tightening torque of the nut, it is possible to control the axial force applied to bearings, such as angular contact ball bearings, etc. This type of handling is mainly used for locations where precision operation is required.
