A leveling bolt is an adjustment bolt used to level or adjust the height of a machine or table. Some tables for home use have a leveling bolt at the end of each leg, and the height is adjusted by turning it by hand or with a wrench.
Industrial machines must be installed horizontally from the standpoint of product quality after manufacturing or processing. If the machine is tilted, the rotation of the motor may become unstable or unexpected torque may be generated, which may cause breakdowns, or oil or other liquids may leak out. For this reason, the installation must be adjusted horizontally, and leveling bolts are used for this purpose.
Leveling bolts are used extensively. For example, they can be found on industrial machinery, such as machine tools, conveyors, vending machines, workbenches, copy machines, office desks, and many other large installations with legs.
Leveling bolts are also called adjuster bolts, jack bolts, adjuster feet, etc. There are many names for leveling bolts, which can be a bit confusing, but they all refer to bolts used for leveling and height adjustment.
By turning the screw, the level surface and height can be adjusted, allowing precise adjustment using a level.
An object has a center of gravity, so at least three legs are needed to support this center of gravity. However, three legs make the object unstable, so four legs, one at each of the four corners, are attached to stabilize the object. On the other hand, it is often the case that one of the four legs of a table is not the same length as the other three, resulting in instability and rattling. In such cases, the leg lengths can be adjusted by turning the leveling bolts on the legs of different lengths. This will stabilize the table and eliminate the rattling.
However, in this case, the adjustment is just to match the leg lengths, and the table may be tilted. The leveling bolts are of great value in such tilting cases. You can easily tell if the table is tilted or not by placing a spherical object on it, as it will start rolling. If the table is tilted, it may slide or fall when placed on an object, so leveling bolts are used to adjust the level.
For leveling and height adjustment, fine-tune the height of the four legs by turning the leveling bolts with screws or wrenches so that the table does not tilt.
