A jet cooler is a device that cools an object using vortex force. As a compact cooling device, it can be used in any location.
In addition to its small size, it has the following features of being:
One of the applications of jet coolers is when soldering.
Soldering is a method of joining components by melting and hardening an alloy of tin and lead (solder) with heat. It is mainly used for electronic components.
Lead-free solder is now being used due to its impact on the human body. However, lead-free solder can harden unevenly. Uneven hardening can lead to cracks and other product defects.
To ensure that the solder hardens uniformly, rapid cooling is performed using jet coolers.
Jet coolers use the force of a vortex to generate cold air.
First, a compressor is used to feed compressed air into the device. Compressing the air stores energy and produces a strong force.
The compressed air passes through a vortex generator inside the equipment. In the generator, air is released in a tangential direction and rotates at high speed. The high-speed rotation generates a vortex.
Because the vortex is rotating, centrifugal force acts on it. Centrifugal force causes an increase in pressure and density. According to Boyle-Charles' law, when the pressure and density increases, the temperature will also increase.
The vortex moves toward the exit. As it moves toward the exit, the temperature decreases at the center of the vortex because the air expands. Heat is released from the center toward the outside, creating a temperature difference between the center and the outside of the vortex. The cold central air is released from the outlet and used for cooling. Warmer outside air is discharged from the opposite direction.
By repeatedly feeding compressed air, creating a vortex, and separating the air according to temperature, steady cooling can be achieved.
