About This Product

■Overview

・Category: Bookbinding adhesives ・Subcategory: Adhesives for perfect binding ・Product overview: Reduced power consumption, waste paper recycling, solvent-free

■Product Description

A great many perfect-bound books are in circulation today, including weekly manga magazines, paperback books, product catalogs, and instruction manuals. The unsung hero of these perfect-bound books is hot melt adhesive. Today's binding machines range widely, from small single-clamp machines to high-speed machines that bind 15,000 copies per hour, and hot melt adhesives are required to have a variety of characteristics. Series Introduction

■EVA Hot Melt Adhesives

For the spine glue of perfect-bound books, hot melt adhesives based on EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin) are generally used.

■Fragmentation-Resistant Improved Hot Melt Adhesives

A bookbinding hot melt adhesive that is unlikely to become mixed into recycled paper during paper recycling (waste paper regeneration) . It is an adhesive that conforms to the criteria for [fragmentation-resistant improved hot melt adhesives] in the "Basic Policy of the Green Purchasing Law" and similar standards.

■EMMA Hot Melt Adhesives

A hot melt adhesive that uses EMMA (ethylene-methyl methacrylate copolymer resin) instead of the conventionally used EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin) . Compared with conventional EVA hot melt adhesives, its stability when heated is outstanding, giving it the following characteristics. ・Little change in viscosity when heated ・Little change in color tone when heated ・Little odor when heated ・Little mist when heated ・High whiteness ・Little scorching in the tank

■Reduced CO2 Emissions, Low-Temperature Application Hot Melt Adhesives

A hot melt adhesive with an optimum working temperature of 140°C. Because this is lower than the optimum working temperature of conventional bookbinding hot melts (180°C) , CO2 emissions and power consumption can be reduced. Other benefits include less frequent equipment maintenance, fewer air bubbles in the spine glue, and reduced contamination inside ducts.
