This memory area is often backed up by flash memory and a battery, ensuring data preservation. It typically comprises a user program area, a parameter area, and an I/O memory area.
CPU technology continues to advance, with major manufacturers incorporating AI capabilities into their units. However, for tasks like AI machine learning and image analysis, Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) are increasingly preferred due to their higher computing power. The GPU market is expected to grow significantly, up from the $19.75 billion level in 2019 to the $200.85 billion level by 2027, and future technological developments may lead to the integration of GPU units in PLC-like devices for advanced AI processing.
