An IP transceiver is a radio transmitter system that uses the communication lines of a major telecommunications carrier.
IP stands for "Internet Protocol" and refers to the rules and procedures for setting the source and destination of data. On the Internet, data is exchanged from PC to PC according to IP rules.
The distinguishing feature of an IP transceiver is that it sends radio waves over telephone lines, allowing for a wider calling area compared to conventional radios. Voice is converted into data packets, transmitted over a telephone line, and restored to voice at the receiving device.
