Table of Contents
An electronic ballast, also known as an electronic stabilizer, is a semiconductor-based device used to ignite discharge lamps, which emit light through processes such as gas discharge or metal vaporization.
This device is used to control light sources like fluorescent lamps and LED lighting, ensuring stable brightness and consistent ignition by stabilizing the power supply.
Unlike incandescent bulbs, light sources such as fluorescent lamps require electronic ballasts for normal ignition, as they cannot be simply connected to a power source. Electronic ballasts stabilize the inherently unstable discharge phenomena in these lamps.
Additionally, electronic ballasts prevent flickering by rapidly switching frequencies, thus enabling efficient utilization of light and improving visual comfort.
By controlling brightness and ignition in this way, electronic ballasts contribute to energy conservation and support environmentally friendly practices.
