About This Product

■What is ion etching equipment?

Ion etching is a technique that physically etches objects by colliding ionized atoms with them. Using our unique ion etching technology, we have developed film removal equipment for cutting tools, molds, and various parts. Film removal refers to the removal of the coating on a base material, and by removing the film, the base material can be reused. There are methods that use chemicals for film removal, but there are problems such as the chemical solutions differ depending on the type of film to be removed and damage to the base material. When used on cemented carbide base materials, it has been difficult to reuse them because chemicals dissolve the component cobalt (Co) and roughen the surface. Our ion etching equipment is effective as a new film removal method that replaces chemicals. By processing in a dry environment without using chemicals, there is no elution of cobalt (Co) contained in the carbide base material, and damage to the base material surface is kept to a minimum.In addition to the advantage, it also reduces the environmental burden and people. Gentle processing is possible. Applications include not only ``film removal,'' but also ``removal of minute burrs'' and ``correction (sharpening) of tip shape.''

■Advantages

By allowing the base material to be reused by removing the film, costs such as base material costs and processing costs can be reduced. For customers who own film deposition equipment, it can be used as a recovery tool in the event of a batch failure. Since no chemicals are used, there is no need for waste liquid treatment, providing a clean environment.
