About This Product

Winner of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2022 concept

■A Ceramic Wall That Conveys Japanese Beauty Within Shadow

Using materials born of nature and traditional ceramic techniques, each piece is carefully finished by hand. A ceramic wall that tightens the whole space and raises its beauty, letting you feel Japanese beauty within shadow, with a character quite unlike mass-produced tile.

■Commitment to the Material

To express the "shadow" that lies at the heart of Inei's appeal, a special black clay that fires to a muted black is used, based on local Mino clay with its particle size adjusted.

■Commitment to Forming

Inei is formed by "tatara" slab building, a ceramic technique handed down through generations. The clay is carefully wire-cut into slabs one by one and worked into the required shapes by hand using paper patterns and similar tools. Taking advantage of tatara forming, which can express a wide variety of shapes, four forms that convey Japanese beauty are realized: "lattice," "stone pavement," "scales," and "arrow feather."

■Commitment to the Glaze

To express the appeal of Inei, we considered a color to pair with the black of the black clay that fires to a muted black, and developed an antique gold glaze that recalls shrines and temples and conveys Japanese beauty. The uneven surface characteristic of wire cutting creates variations in the depth of the glaze layer, and the resulting deep, richly flavorful color tightens the whole space and raises its beauty.

・Prices are a guide; for an actual order, a lump-sum quotation is issued according to the production volume ・The reference price per square meter does not include installation loss ・Because the tiles are formed by hand, there are dimensional variations and distortion ・The tiles cannot be acid washed, and contact with acidic substances may cause discoloration ・Layout and installation are not undertaken ・Because the layout can produce a lot of loss, tile dimensions can also be changed as a special order, so please consult us ・Recommended adhesive: Cemedine Tile Ace L Pro (black) (2 kg pack) * Use a 3 mm notched trowel to regulate the amount. * Use a 2 kg pack as a guide for about one square meter of installation.
