SF6 gas density is an important monitoring parameter in high voltage switchgear. If the SF6 gas density is below the required amount, the switchgear will no longer be able to operate safely. Even in extremely harsh environments, WIKA's gas density meters provide an alarm output for SF6 gas leaks. If the SF6 gas density falls below a preset set point, the magnetic snap switch will operate.
General-purpose pressure gauges are not suitable for measuring SF6 gas density because pressure measurement is affected by changes in ambient temperature, altitude, and atmospheric pressure. The above factors can lead to large errors in measurements, with pressure display errors of up to 20% in some cases. In order to eliminate these error factors, WIKA's gas density meter has a built-in temperature compensation function and has a sealed structure.
