What Is a Hi-Pot Tester?
A hi-pot tester is an inspection instrument used to measure the dielectric strength of insulation materials in electrical equipment and wires.

Hi-pot testers typically apply direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC) voltage to the specimen under test. If the insulation is sufficient, very little current will flow.
