Table of Contents
Pressure sensitive adhesive, also known as PSA, is the adhesive applied to adhesive tapes.
It is a special adhesive that exhibits adhesive strength when pressure is applied. Generally, it provides sufficient adhesion with just a touch, and it does not require additional processing such as heat or solvent, making it convenient to use. PSAs are used in adhesive tapes, labels, stickers, Post-it notes, and more. These products contain pressure sensitive adhesive thinly coated on substrates such as paper or film, allowing them to be quickly applied by applying pressure when needed.
Pressure sensitive adhesives are composed of a combination of polymers such as acrylic polymers, rubber-based polymers, and silicone-based polymers, as well as additives such as plasticizers to improve flexibility and elasticity, antioxidants, UV stabilizers, and thickeners.
