■Summary

As a pioneer of zoom microscopes and zoom microscopes, we have incorporated telescope technology into our advanced know-how and lens polishing processing technology cultivated over many years to create a zoom that can perform high-magnification, high-resolution observations despite its ultra-long working distance. This is a microscope that can see far away with a ratio of 14. The illumination optical system employs coaxial epi-illumination and oblique illumination to enable a variety of observations.Inner reflection (flare light) due to long operation is eliminated using a polarizing plate and a 1/4λ wavelength plate. This technology blocks flare light and provides clear images. It is not limited to fine observation inside a vacuum chamber that was impossible with conventional optical systems, observation of high-temperature samples that cannot be approached, and manual assembly and adjustment.Since it can secure sufficient working distance, it can be used for alignment of manipulators, AFM, etc. As an optical system, it is being used not only for industrial purposes, but also in the fields of biology, medicine, and more. This UWZ2 technology enabled the asteroid explorer Hayabusa to find particles brought back from the asteroid Itokawa from a container in its chamber and collect them with a manipulator.

■Ideal for sample analysis inside a vacuum chamber (UWZ300F)

Up until now, observation inside the vacuum chamber has mainly been done visually or using a CCD camera lens, but with the UWZ300F, the crystal formation and film formation process inside the vacuum chamber can be observed in real time through glass using an optical system with a 14x zoom ratio. It is possible to zoom in on the image. Additionally, when operating an AFM (atomic force microscope) in a vacuum chamber, the tip of the needle can be reliably placed on the target object, which helps improve the efficiency of research and development. The working distance is 300mm, and the total magnification is 27x to 376x. The object side N.A. is 0.065, the resolution is 5.16μm, and the ultra-long working zoom engineering system provides a depth of focus of 6.5mm.
