About This Product

■What is Hytrel®?

Hytrel is a registered trade name for polyester resin manufactured by DuPont in the United States, and is called thermoplastic polyester elastomer (PETP). In Japan, it is manufactured and sold by DuPont Toray. Hytrel combines the excellent properties of engineering plastics, such as high functionality and good workability, with elasticity. It is widely used in various seals, hydraulic hoses, various industrial products, electrical appliances, and automobile parts. *Hytrel® and Hytrel® are registered trademarks of DuPont, USA. Advantages of Hytrel Backup Rings

■Characteristics of rubber (elastomer)

Wind bending resistance, high rebound resilience, impact resistance, and low temperature resistance (compared to plastic)

■Characteristics of plastic

Moderate strength, excellent durability, easy moldability, and excellent dimensional accuracy

■Advantages over Teflon backup rings

Sufficient strength and wind bending fatigue resistance prevents "extrusion" and excellent durability (wear resistance)

■About Hytrel backup rings handled by our company

The material used in the backup rings we handle is called 55D (material number) from DuPont, USA, and the operating temperature range is -40℃ to +120℃. Hytrel manufactured by DuPont Toray is equivalent to 5557 (material number). The JIS-P and JIS-G series Hytrel backup rings sold in Japan have an ivory color. Hytrel backup rings for small valves and AS568 series sold overseas are orange. Both ivory and orange have the same basic material properties and product performance.
