About This Product

■Summary

Neodymium magnets are rare earth magnets whose main components are neodymium, iron, and boron. Rare earths, also called rare earths, have excellent magnetic and physical properties. Neodymium magnets have the strongest magnetic force of all permanent magnets, so they play an important role in the miniaturization and high performance that characterize high-tech industries. There are several types of magnets, but neodymium magnets have the strongest magnetic force. It has about 10 times the magnetic force compared to ferrite magnets. Additionally, neodymium magnets have three characteristics: ``high holding power,'' ``resistant to demagnetization,'' and ``excellent mechanical strength.''

■About rust on neodymium magnets

Neodymium magnets have the disadvantage of being easily oxidized and corroded, and rusted neodymium magnets will lose their magnetic force (demagnetization). Therefore, nickel plating is usually applied as a surface treatment.

■The thickness of the plating is also important.

The thicker nickel plating makes the magnet more resistant to rust. However, the thickness of the plating varies depending on the manufacturer, and many inexpensive magnets on the market are thin (about 2 to 5 microns).

■Adopts 3-layer plating

Our neodymium magnets use three layers of rust-resistant plating (nickel, copper, and nickel), and the plating thickness is 15 to 20 microns. Even nickel-plated neodymium magnets will rust in humid environments. Also, high temperatures can cause demagnetization, so when using neodymium magnets, you need to be careful about humidity and temperature (below 80°C). *Other product numbers are available.
