About This Product

■An incremental optical encoder IC that is ideal for embedding and achieves resolution exceeding submicron and miniaturization.

SMD-01B is a reflective incremental encoder IC that uses a diffraction image projection method. This product incorporates an integrated circuit with a photodiode and an LED in one package. The relative movement between the SMD-01B and the scale is detected by projecting the light emitted from the LED onto the scale and receiving the diffraction image of the reflected light with a photodiode. Additionally, by arranging the photodiodes in the light receiving section, we reduce the deterioration of phase characteristics due to mounting precision.

・Package: HCOB14, 5.3x4.3x1.68mm ・Power supply voltage: 3.13 to 5.25V (SWV=H), 4.75 to 5.25V (SWV=L or H) ・Current consumption: 12.2mA (Typ) @VDD=5V ・Operating temperature range: -20 to +60℃ ・High precision A/B phase analog output, output cycle 20μm ・Output frequency 100KHz ・Resolution: 5μm (Can be created from a scale with a 20μm pitch pattern, A phase, and B phase) ・Compatible with differential output that is resistant to noise ・Thinner design using reflective method ・Easy to adjust mounting position due to optimization of OEIC and optical design ・LED brightness can be adjusted by external terminal settings ・Reflow mounting possible

■Small size

Even with the glass scale and PCB board that are required separately, it is possible to configure an encoder with a gap of less than 4mm. Ideal for applications where the encoder is incorporated into an application.

■High precision

With the highest class signal accuracy as a 1-chip encoder, resolution exceeding submicron can be achieved in combination with an external multiplier circuit.
