There are two types of abrasives used in the buffing process for super finishing after diamond abrasives. Each has its own characteristics and compatibility with samples, so please use the information below as a reference.

■ Colloidal silica

This abrasive is mainly suitable for nonferrous materials and soft materials such as copper, aluminum, and substrates. Because the liquid itself tends to crystallize, it is a little difficult to handle and must be cleaned quickly after polishing. Each type has a different particle size, so it is necessary to select one based on the difference in particle size from the previous process. This suspension is mainly suitable for non-ferrous materials and soft materials such as copper, aluminum, and substrates. The product is a undiluted solution, and we recommend diluting it approximately 7 to 10 times with water before use. Silica liquid has the characteristic of easily crystallizing, so it may form a film on the polished surface or leave fine particles on the polished surface, making it a little difficult to handle and requiring quick cleaning after polishing. . Both colloidal silica products use "amorphous silicon dioxide," so they are not subject to the newly added carcinogenic substances after April 2023.
