About This Product

■Separation and quantification of soil carbon by multi-step heating

In recent years, the measurement of total organic carbon (TOC) in solids has become increasingly important. Measuring TOC content is now an important indicator not only for waste evaluation but also for soil evaluation. Our soli TOC® cube adds residual oxidizing carbon (ROC, also known as elemental carbon) to total organic carbon (TOC) and total inorganic carbon (TIC), which cannot be distinguished from TOC with conventional equipment. Automatic separation and quantification of three types of carbon forms is possible. In addition to conventional TOC measurements using direct and indirect methods, the multi-step heating method enables the measurement of a new parameter called TOC400, which is distinguished from ROC. This new method does not require any pretreatment such as acid addition, which saves time and greatly improves laboratory operational efficiency.

■Analysis method

Simultaneous fractional determination of TOC400, ROC, and TIC900 in solids according to DIN19539 using multi-step heating up to 900℃ in an oxygen gas atmosphere. The peak resolution of ROC and TIC900 can be improved by switching from oxidizing gas (oxygen) to non-oxidizing gas (nitrogen) as the carrier gas during measurement. Measurement of TOC in solids by high-temperature combustion catalytic oxidation according to EN17505. Simultaneous measurement of total nitrogen (TN) with optional electrochemical detection (ECD).

■Easy pretreatment and handling

Simply weigh the solid sample (up to 3 g) into a steel or ceramic crucible without any special pretreatment.

■Fully automatic operation

Controlled by an autosampler for 89 samples and a Windows® PC, automatic unattended operation is possible except for sample setting. Additionally, optional 21CFR Part 11 compatible software is available.
