About This Product

The OsteoImage™ Mineralization Assay is a rapid, fluorescent, in vitro assay for assessing bone cell mineralization. This assay allows the quantification of in vitro mineralization by osteoblastic stem cells, primary osteoblasts, and osteoblast-like cell lines. This assay detects the specific binding of fluorescent OsteoImage™ staining reagent to the hydroxyapatite moiety of deposited osteoid cell nodules. This assay is sensitive enough to detect time-dependent increases in mineralization in differentiating osteoblast culture media. Unlike common histochemical methods (such as von Kossa staining and Alizarin Red staining, which do not exhibit specificity for hydroxyapatite), the OsteoImage™ assay eliminates multiple steps and tedious extraction procedures. This latest addition to Lonza's bone research product line improves the speed, sensitivity, and ease of measuring mineralization in cell culture.
