About This Product

ToxiLight™ Non-destructive Cytotoxicity Bioassay Kit is a bioluminescent, non-destructive cytotoxicity assay kit that measures adenylate kinase (AK) released from damaged cells. AK is a stable protein present in all eukaryotic cells and is released into the culture medium upon cell death. Due to the activity of AK, ADP (adenosine diphosphate) is phosphorylated to generate ATP (adenosine triphosphate), and the generated ATP is measured using a luciferase reaction. As the level of cell lysis increases, the amount of AK in the medium supernatant also increases, resulting in the generation of high intensity light by the ToxiLight™ reagent. Cell lysis is not required and measurements are performed using the medium supernatant.
