■Safety system without redundancy
Regarding the introduction of safety systems for low-risk machinery: Up until now, it has been difficult to implement Category 2 control, and the only option was to implement redundant (Category 3) control even for low-risk machinery. However, with the HR5S safety relay module, a Category 2 configuration can be easily achieved, reducing installation costs and man-hours.
■About performance level
- The degree of contribution of safety systems to risk reduction is classified by performance level.
・With a category 2 configuration (architecture), it is possible to realize a PL = c or PL = d control system.
・Perform a risk assessment and check the performance level (PLr) required for the machine.
・PLr = c exists in a variety of machines and locations, especially packaging machinery, food machinery, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and other production equipment.
