About This Product

■Product Overview

In recent years, machining has demanded working accuracy on the order of microns and submicrons. To maintain such high accuracy, thermal displacement caused by heat from rotating bodies and other sources must be eliminated in addition to mechanical adjustment. Precise Fluid 2001, a high-performance temperature control medium for machine tools, answers this need. Features

■No Risk of Fire

Precise Fluid 2001 is water based and exhibits no flash point, so it is handled as a non-hazardous material under the Fire Service Act. Heating and cooling may take place automatically and unattended when work begins at the start of a shift or during nighttime operation, but Precise Fluid 2001 poses no fire risk and can be used with confidence.

■Excellent Heat Transfer Characteristics

Because Precise Fluid 2001 is water based, it has approximately twice the specific heat and approximately five times the thermal conductivity (heat transfer coefficient approximately 3.8 times) of conventional mineral-based heat transfer oils, giving it high heating and cooling performance. Warm-up operation time can therefore be shortened, and the machining accuracy of the machine tool in operation is kept consistently high, enabling the production of high-value-added products.

■Excellent Corrosion and Rust Prevention

When water itself is used as the heating and cooling medium, corrosion can reduce heat transfer performance and lead to clogging of piping. Precise Fluid 2001 prevents corrosion of ferrous and copper-based metals through the addition of carefully selected corrosion inhibitors. The addition of a vapor-phase rust inhibitor also prevents rust on tank ceilings and inside piping while the machine tool is in storage.

■Excellent Lubricity

To circulate the heating and cooling medium efficiently and prevent abnormal wear of the circulation pump, a certain level of viscosity and wear protection is required. Precise Fluid 2001 offers excellent lubricity through the selection of an appropriate viscosity and the action of an anti-wear additive.

■In-Service Fluid Management

Precise Fluid 2001 is water based, so it may evaporate with use and cause the viscosity to rise. Depletion of the vapor-phase rust inhibitor may also lead to corrosion and rust problems. In-service fluid management is extremely important for safe operation of the equipment.
