About This Product

■Product OverviewFBK Turbine SH is a high-performance turbine oil dedicated to hydroelectric power units. It is based on the FBK Turbine series, the first inhibited long-life turbine oil produced domestically in Japan and improved over many years, with the addition of a high-performance rust inhibitor to prevent spool valve sludge in hydraulic control systems and a detergent-dispersant that disperses sludge. It is a high-quality hydraulic turbine lubricant that can be used with confidence in hydroelectric power units running unattended or under automatic control.

Features
■Excellent Oxidation StabilityWhen a lubricant is used continuously for a long time, oxidative degradation gradually produces sludge that harms machine operation. In recent years, unattended and automated operation centered on small and medium hydroelectric power plants, together with the increase in large-capacity pumped-storage plants, has called for improved oxidation stability in turbine oil and prevention of valve malfunctions in control systems. FBK Turbine SH provides the same anti-oxidation performance as FBK Turbine for high-temperature, high-pressure thermal and nuclear power units, and it has excellent oxidation stability that withstands long-term use even under severe conditions.

■Excellent Rust Prevention and Detergent-Dispersant PerformanceIn the control system oil of hydroelectric power units used over long periods, malfunctions occur when spool valves in the hydraulic control system seize. Past trouble cases show that valve malfunctions are caused by a) accumulation of foreign matter such as rust, wear debris, and paint, or b) deposition of degradation products from the turbine oil in narrow parts of the system.

FBK Turbine SH has the following features. 1. It uses a high-performance rust inhibitor that offers excellent rust protection without contributing to sludge formation or deposition. 2. It uses a high-performance detergent-dispersant that washes out and disperses in the turbine oil the fine, mainly organic components that cannot be removed by filtration and are involved in valve malfunctions, so that they do not adhere to spool valves.

■Good Demulsibility and Water SeparabilityLubricants and hydraulic fluids often emulsify when water enters, making operation unstable, so in practice an oil that resists emulsification and readily separates from entrained water is desirable. FBK Turbine SH has excellent water separation performance, so emulsification problems caused by water ingress do not occur.

■Good Viscosity and Temperature Characteristics and Low-Temperature PropertiesFBK Turbine SH shows little viscosity change with temperature and has a low pour point, so it also delivers outstanding performance as a hydraulic control oil.
