About This Product

■Summary

KTR-5 can provide ventilation for most animals used in the laboratory, from mice to rabbits. The device is electronically controlled and can flexibly respond to various parameters. The function sequence can be confirmed by the signal LED. Unlike Starling piston pumps, the KTR-5 avoids the risk of damaging the animal's lungs due to incorrect stroke volume settings. The KTR-5 allows you to set a wide range of ventilation timings for your experiments. KTR-5 works on the principle of intermittent positive pressure ventilation. Continuously regulated flow is switched by a solenoid valve to the animal or overflow outlet. The device measures and displays the pressure inside the ventilation cannula. Proper setting allows the use of a measurement circuit that terminates the inspiratory process when the set pressure is reached (0-29cmH2O), preventing excessive pressurization of the lungs. The plateau function allows the end-inhalation pressure to be maintained for a certain period of time. This feature allows direct control of supply pressure. Pressure is measured during exhalation. Air flow to the animal can be adjusted with a needle valve and read with a flow meter. Sigh can be executed arbitrarily by key input. A special Y-shaped cannula is used to connect to the tracheostomy tube. The end of the cannula is used for inspiration, expiration, and pressure measurements. Ventilation air is usually supplied by an internal pump. It is also possible to introduce ventilation gas from the outside (max. 0.5 bar). If air is supplied by an external pressure source (2-8 bar), there is also a version with a high-precision pressure regulator and a replacement internal pump. The ventilation cannula is connected to the KTR-5 by a Y-type connector and appropriate tubing. Different cannulas and Y connectors are also available depending on the application.
