About This Product
■Extend DVI monitor & KB/mouse over long distance with optical cable
SOD-505 allows extension up to 20Km using optical cable. The optical cable is 1-core single mode and uses OS2.
The optical connector uses an FC connector that can be stably and firmly fixed. Although common connectors such as LC and SC are easy to connect and disconnect, they are susceptible to vibration, movement, and mechanical stress, which can lead to insufficient connections, but FC is firmly fixed with screws, so it is easy to connect and disconnect. It has the advantage of being less susceptible to mechanical disconnections and ensuring a secure and tight connection.
The recommended resolution is Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 (16:9). Since the signal is compressed, there will be a time lag of about 0.05 seconds at the destination, but you will not notice it at the destination. The connection is plug-and-play, so there's no need to turn off your PC or turn off your monitor. There are no settings required, just connect and you can use it right away.
■Match with the optical cable already installed
If the connector of the optical cable that has already been installed is, for example, LC, you can connect it by using a commercially available FC-LC conversion connector. (However, it must be in single mode)
There are commercially available conversion connectors such as "FC-LC" and "FC-SC", so please select one that matches the optical connector at your site.
■Extension of monitor only
As a monitor extender, it is possible to extend only the monitor. It is not necessary to connect a mouse and keyboard.
■Local monitor connection
SOD-505 does not have a local output (PC side monitor output) port. If you want to display the monitor on the PC side, use a port other than the extension port to display the local monitor, or use a monitor distributor to display the local monitor.
■Resolution
1,280x720/1,360x768/1,366×768/1,920x1,080 (16:9 compatible)
*16:10 1,680 x 1,050/1,920 x 1,200 and square types are not supported.
(It will be displayed, but it will be landscape/vertical, or black bars will be displayed on the top and bottom or left and right)
