■What is an air leak tester?

This tester uses air to pressurize the inside (or outside) of a sealed workpiece and determines leakage based on the pressure change. When pressurizing a leak-free master and a leaking work, the pressure on the leaking work will decrease, creating a pressure difference between the master and the work. Leakage is determined by looking at this pressure difference. This differential pressure type air leak test is generally used to check for leaks, but at Fukuda, in addition to the differential pressure type leak tester, we also have products that use direct pressure type leak tests and flow meters in line with the leak rate (leakage amount). ■Problems with temperature correction

Conventionally, we measured the surface temperature of the workpiece, the seal base, and the ambient temperature and looked for parts that correlated with the measured leakage value, but as shown in the figure on the right, the heat dissipation characteristics differ depending on the workpiece part and the seal base part. It was extremely difficult to find a correlation because it was also affected by fluctuations in ambient temperature.

■Newly developed temperature correction system

The newly developed temperature correction system captures temperature data that affects leak measurement as temperature changes in the air inside the workpiece, making it possible to detect comprehensive temperature effects such as workpiece temperature, ambient temperature, and jig temperature, and correlate Achieved highly accurate temperature compensation. In addition, in order to maintain the same temperature measurement method as the leakage measurement method, we placed a sealed space called a thermosensor inside the workpiece, and adopted a method that captures temperature changes in this space as differential pressure changes.
