Honeywell's APS00B high-resolution angular position sensor integrated circuit (IC) is a miniature surface-mount device that measures angular or rotational displacement designed for magnetic saturation field sensing.
The APS00B produces an analog output voltage that varies depending on the direction of magnetic flux passing over the surface of the sensor IC. It includes a dual saturation mode Wheatstone bridge that produces quadrature (sine and cosine) signals to provide a wide range of angle measurements up to 180 degrees.
This product is a cost-effective and space-efficient solution for high-volume OEM designs. Applications include position sensing, rotational speed and angle sensing, and non-contact precision position measurement systems.
The APS00B sensor IC uses Honeywell's anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) technology, which offers advantages over Hall effect based magnetic sensors. They can achieve resolutions higher than 1/10th of a degree or 1/10th of a mm, withstand large variations in the magnet-to-sensor gap, as well as exhibit insensitivity to shock and vibration. Honeywell magnetic sensors are among the most accurate and reliable position sensors in the industry.
These surface mount devices attach directly to electrical traces on a PC (Printed Circuit) board. Attached via an automated solder reflow operation that requires no holes, reducing PC board costs.
