When growing plants artificially, nutrients are supplied periodically with irrigation water. (Fertilization). It is controlled by monitoring water content and electrical conductivity (EC) and adjusting the injection of liquid fertilizer into the irrigation water. Delta-T WET sensors are excellent at monitoring this important information.

■Soil salinity

If irrigation water is recycled or pumped from rivers with high dissolved salts, soil salinity can increase over time. Soil salinization ultimately reduces crop yields. WET sensors respond quickly and efficiently to soil salinity sampling, providing farmers with the information they need to take remedial measures as quickly as possible.

■Container-grown shrubs and trees

Nutrients are sometimes provided by irrigation, but more often by controlled release fertilizers. The rate of absorption of these fertilizers varies depending on weather conditions. A Delta-T WET sensor can be used to measure the EC in the culture medium and take much of the guesswork out of this step.

The wet sensor takes a complete reading within 5 seconds, allowing you to monitor the growth status of hundreds of plants in a single day. It replaces expensive lab analysis and ensures that crops are grown under optimal conditions.
