About This Product

OMNIgene・GUT (model number: OMR-200) is a kit that allows you to collect and preserve intestinal flora (bacterial/viral DNA) from feces. Collected specimens can be stably stored at room temperature (15-25℃) for approximately 60 days. This facilitates specimen collection from a distance. For DNA extraction (purification), please use a commercially available purification kit. The OMR-200 storage solution does not contain guanidine. *This kit is a research reagent.

■Features

・Fecal specimens can be collected more easily than conventional methods (freezing). → Easy-to-use collection kit makes it easy to obtain cooperation from donors. - Stir the specimen and storage solution immediately after fecal collection to stabilize the bacterial flora. →Minimize bacterial growth and DNA degradation by mixing with storage solution. - Can be stored at room temperature for 60 days without freezing, making specimen management easier during transportation. →Reduced labor and cost compared to conventional frozen transportation, and allows specimens to be managed in liquid form, making it easier to handle specimens without the need for freezing and thawing. ・Since the bacterial flora at the time of collection can be maintained, it is suitable for collecting specimens for metagenomic and flora analysis. → Minimize analysis noise to obtain reliable bacterial flora profiles. ・The kit's preservation solution can inactivate the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

■What is intestinal flora?

Intestinal flora refers to intestinal bacteria, and is also called intestinal flora because individual bacteria gather in the intestines to form an ecosystem. Recent research has revealed that a person's health status changes depending on the intestinal bacteria. Therefore, research on maintaining normal intestinal bacteria is progressing. On the other hand, with conventional preservation methods, it was necessary to prepare freezing equipment and an environment to keep the specimen stable. OMNIgene/GUT allows DNA to be maintained and stored at room temperature, making it possible to conduct high-quality intestinal bacterial DNA research at low cost.
