■METPOINT® FLM: Sensor technology for volume flow measurement

One in three compressors only operates to compensate for air loss. These costs are largely avoidable. One possibility to avoid these costs is to accurately obtain the current volumetric flow rate. This will later form the basis for many important analyses, documentation, and decisions. BEKO TECHNOLOGIES offers end position monitoring with METPOINTFLM SF13 and SF53.

■Is your production set up to be economically optimized?

This question can only be comprehensively answered if the current volume flow requirements for compressed air are determined. This can be evaluated with the METPOINT FLM volumetric flow measurement system, providing the necessary database for intelligent energy management. Identify potential savings, overloads, and weaknesses in your system and improve efficiency. By measuring the actual flow rates to various production units, you can make fact-based decisions. At the same time, METPOINT FLM will let you know if there are any leaks in your system. Measurements provide all the data needed to optimally align the components together and design the system economically. The FLM SF13 model is available with measuring sections of various diameters and comes with a calibration certificate for the selected pipe diameter. The FLM SF53 is a universal sensor and is precalibrated to a 53.1 mm tube diameter. However, it can be adjusted/calibrated to other diameters according to customer requirements.

■Function

Two temperature sensors are installed in series. The first temperature sensor measures the current process temperature of the compressed air, and the second sensor is electrically heated to a temperature 40K higher than the first sensor. At large volumetric flow rates, the temperature of the sensor drops rapidly, so it is necessary to increase the heat output of the electric heater of the second sensor. The electrical energy required to maintain the temperature difference is proportional to the volumetric flow rate. This energy consumption is converted to provide relevant flow measurements.
