A liquid abrasive is a type of abrasive that is even less viscous than regular paste abrasives and is almost liquid.
Since the abrasive is applied to a soft cloth or rag, it is easy to wipe off after polishing, and since it contains fine alumina abrasives, it is scratch-resistant and produces a beautiful luster on the surface.
It can be used for a wide range of materials, from steel to nonferrous metals such as stainless steel and aluminum, as well as plastics, and can be used in various locations.
Liquid abrasives are mainly used to polish metals and plastics. Some types can also be used to remove stains and water stains from glass and tiles, and are widely used as cleaning tools in homes.
Some products also contain an antistatic agent to suppress static electricity, thereby preventing dirt and dust from adhering to mirror surfaces.
However, since their polishing power is lower than other abrasives, they are not suitable for scratch removal or deep rust removal, and are used for light grinding such as surface glazing and dirt removal.
The advantage of liquid abrasives is that they do not require a special buffing grinder like solid or paste abrasives, and can be soaked into a cloth or rag for use, making them easy to use even without a buffing grinder.
It can also be used in the home on various surfaces such as sinks, tiles, mirrors, and faucets, can be widely used to polish vehicles such as cars and motorcycles, and can be purchased inexpensively at home centers.
Disadvantages include a high risk of splattering due to its low viscosity and low polishing power, making it unsuitable for heavy-duty grinding.
