A blow gun is used when a strong blast of air is needed to blow away dust and clean up an area. Many factories and laboratories have blow gun, and they are frequently used.
In most cases, the gas used is compressed air, which can be easily produced, but it can also be connected to a nitrogen cylinder to blow out high-pressure nitrogen. However, nitrogen and argon do not contain oxygen, so there is a risk of asphyxiation if they are continuously used in an enclosed space, so they must be used with ventilation for safety.
Blow guns are generally used to blow dust, sand, wood chips, lint, etc., off of tables, products, and other surfaces to clean them.
Other uses include collecting small parts or sand from barrels, since it is more efficient to blow and collect them with blow guns than to sweep them with a broom. Furthermore, the vigorously blowing air is highly effective in cooling hot objects, so it is also used for quick cooling of forged products, cast products, and after welding.
Since blow guns are devices that release compressed gas, the gas must first be compressed before it can be used. Compressed air may be supplied in factories or laboratories, so it is easy to use by connecting to such a line. If compressed air is not available, it must be prepared separately. In this case, it is connected to a cylinder or air compressor. The high pressure air produced by the compressor is lowered to the desired pressure by a regulator and connected to the blow guns through a tube.
The compressed air is released by pulling the trigger attached to the blow guns. The flow rate can be adjusted by operating the trigger, so it can be adjusted on a case-by-case basis, or if it is too brisk, it can be adjusted by a regulator installed upstream.
The tip of the blow guns may be bare metal, which may damage the surface of the equipment when blowing. In such cases, a rubber tip or similar device is installed to prevent scratching.
