About This Product

■About this product

Duran® glass tubing is one of the most versatile industrial glasses thanks to its many properties, including versatility, high resistance, and high processability. Developed by Otto Schott in 1897, borosilicate glass 3.3 remains a typical glass today in many respects: variable dimensions, excellent dimensional tolerances, and high optical quality.

■Processing conditions

Stress Relief Slow Cooling To relieve the temporary stresses created during descent, the glass is heated sufficiently to a maximum temperature of 550°C and held at this temperature for a maximum of 30 minutes. Thinner walls may require less time.

■Thermal shock resistance

Thermal shock resistance according to DINISO718 refers to the temperature difference in the water tank when a high-pitched glass sample is immersed in a low-pitched water bath (room temperature) and 50% of the sample cracks.

■Quality control

The quality of our shots is ensured by modern manufacturing methods that are 100% measured, inspected, recorded and traced back to their origin.

■Certified quality

Duran® meets standards such as ISO3585:1998 and ASTME438TypeI. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) extends the known ISO9001 standard to provide guidance on manufacturing processes and environments (ISO15378). Schott's Mitterteich factory in Germany is the world's first glass tube manufacturer to be certified to the current European ISO 15378 standard.

■Quality proven by shots

In addition to measurements within the production line, samples are taken periodically from the production process. We perform chemical, physical, and visual inspections on these samples in our in-house laboratory to confirm and extend the results of our automated tests. After the glass tubing product is packed and ready for shipping, all measurement results are documented along with the packaging information for traceability.
