■Current situation and issues

・Due to product functionality, the honing of the block bore hole requires strict precision in diameter, coaxiality, and roundness. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the grinding wheel while measuring the diameter of the workpiece, and it is common to use a honing machine with an operating shaft. ・However, introducing a honing machine requires a large amount of capital investment and space for the equipment.

■Development points

・The ATC type honing head realizes honing processing on a machining center by applying the technology cultivated in honing heads for conventional honing machines and using an internal mechanism that stabilizes the rotation axis. ・When drilling holes in blocks, the previous process of boring and honing can be performed using the same equipment, eliminating the need to install honing machine equipment and contributing to investment reduction.
