The GHI series is a reamer for cast iron and steel that achieves outstanding roundness and excellent surface roughness with optimal unequal division of cutting edges and 6 blades. It enables high efficiency machining with high feed rate, contributing to shortening cycle time. In addition to standard specifications, the lineup includes Type.T for thin wall processing and Type.R for through holes.
Development concept/product concept
■Current situation and issues
There was a need for a finishing reamer capable of high-efficiency machining, but conventional multi-blade reamers had issues with roundness and surface roughness deteriorating at high feed rates.
■Development points
The GHI series achieves a significant improvement in roundness by unequal division of the cutting edge. In addition, the number of teeth is set to 6, and the back taper is suitable for high feeds, achieving improved surface roughness. Additionally, a multi-layer coating is used to extend the service life and contribute to lower cutting tool costs.
