About This Product

The NexION 5000 is the first multi-quadrupole ICP-MS system with a true triple quadrupole. This is an innovative system that can meet the demanding trace elemental analysis needs of semiconductor, biomonitoring, and other applications. It offers superior background equivalent concentration (BEC) and superior stability over high-resolution ICP-MS and traditional triple quadrupole ICP-MS. ■Excellent spectral interference removal

Unlike traditional triple quadrupole systems, the NexION 5000 multi-quadrupole ICP-MS has four levels of mass resolution. The focused ion beam of the element to be measured is introduced into the ion optical system, where the first Q0 (quadrupole ion deflector) plays the role of guiding the ion beam with high sensitivity, and Q1 (the first transmission analyzer quadrupole) acts as a mass filter. The reaction for interference removal is controlled by Q2 (quadrupole universal cell), and reaction by-products are also suppressed. The ions are then finally mass separated in Q3 (the second transmission analyzer quadrupole). With these four quadrupoles, the NexION 5000 can achieve BECs of less than 1 ppt even for elements such as calcium and potassium in hot plasma conditions.

The second generation triple cone interface with OmniRing technology operates in extraction, focusing, or cold plasma modes for exceptional sensitivity and detection limits.
