Handheld mode and presentation mode have different scanning requirements. The DS9900 series can support either mode. In presentation mode, the scanning range is narrowed, which prevents you from accidentally scanning nearby items. In handheld mode, the scanning range can be expanded to 24 inches/62 cm, making it easy to scan items in your cart.
