There are various methods for hairline polishing (vertical polishing) of round pipes, but generally the pipe is vertically polished using a flap wheel while rotating. Recently, there has been an increasing demand for higher quality hairline finishes for stainless steel pipes used as building materials. Shiken has recently completed a hairline finishing machine (shigoki method) for round pipes that uses a grinding belt.
By polishing the substrate with the SPV-500 type polishing machine and then finishing with this machine, it is possible to achieve a straight hairline finish with no flowing lines.
