About This Product

Drum Mill TM500 is a laboratory ball mill developed for grinding large-capacity samples up to 35L. The sample input size can be up to 20mm, and the impact force and friction force can crush the sample up to 15μm (depending on the sample). A 150L grinding drum is loaded with 80kg of grinding balls to grind hard, brittle and fibrous samples. The rotation speed can be set from 10 to 50 rpm, and can be used for long periods of time up to 100 hours. We also carry hoppers and grinding drums that are compatible with 316L stainless steel, a grade that can be used for grinding food.

■Easy operation

By using the sample loading hopper and sample dividing screen (sold separately), large amounts of samples and grinding balls can be easily loaded and divided. The grinding drum is also easy to handle and can be emptied easily thanks to the electronic tilt function. A dedicated touch display allows you to start/stop, set the rotation speed, set the running time, and set the interval mode. Interval mode is used when crushing samples that are sensitive to heat. If you set an interval that combines forward and reverse rotation, the sample will be less likely to stick. It also has an emergency stop switch for safety.

■Gravel crushing

Inject 40 kg (27 L) of sample and 80 kg of 20 mm grinding balls into the grinding drum. Operates for several hours at a rotation speed of 50 rpm. Measurement of milled particle size after 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours: ・2 hours: D90=98µm ・4 hours: D90=37µm ・6 hours: D90=21µm ・8 hours: D90=15µm ・Sample: Gravel 10-15mm ・Sample input amount: 27L ・Crushing ball: 80kg of 20mm ball

■Function

Drum mills perform pulverization by placing the coarsely pulverized sample into a pulverizing drum along with grinding balls. This ball mill uses impact force and frictional force to grind the sample (dry grinding). Larger grinding balls provide more grinding power and more efficient grinding, while smaller grinding balls allow you to grind the sample to smaller particle sizes.
