About This Product

■What is a thread rolling head?

The thread rolling head usually involves three rolls and enters from the end face of the material from the axial direction to roll the thread. Since it is a step rolling method that rolls one pile at a time from the tip, it places less stress on the machine and workpiece. No matter how many revolutions there are, each revolution advances by a pitch. Since the roll moves in the axial direction no matter the length, a feature of the axial head is that the thread length can be set freely. There is an F-type head (used for lathes, etc.) that is used for rotating workpieces, and a G-type head (used for MC, etc.) that can rotate the head.

■Materials that can be rolled

・Materials with an elongation rate of 5% or more and a maximum tension of 1700N/mm2 ・Steel, stainless steel, casting, brass, copper, aluminum, titanium, etc. ・Materials with HRC20 or less are suitable for rolling, and the life of the roll will be longer. - Rolling of materials with an elongation rate of less than 5% or hardness exceeding HRC30, such as cast iron or other highly hard materials, is extremely difficult.

■Lubrication and cooling

Please use cutting oil/coolant during machining to extend the life of the roll. Also, apply cutting oil/coolant to the workpiece to remove chips from the previous process. Conventional cutting oils and coolants can be used for thread rolling, for example soluble oils (possibly with additives) in a ratio of 10 to 20:1. Pure cutting fluids with low viscosity are also used for thread rolling. Additives can significantly extend roll life.

■Clutch function

The axial head has a clutch function, and the roll releases the workpiece after thread rolling is completed. This allows the head to return quickly without coming into contact with the rolled threads. The method to return the opened clutch depends on the usage situation.
