About This Product

■What is ARC thread rolling head?

The thread rolling head usually involves three rolls and enters from the end face of the material from the axial direction to roll the thread. Since it is a step rolling method that rolls one thread at a time from the tip, it is a method that reduces the load on the machine and workpiece. No matter how many revolutions there are, each revolution advances by a pitch. Since the roll advances in the axial direction at any length, the thread length can be set freely. There is an F-type head that is used for rotating workpieces (used for lathes, etc.), and a G-type head that can rotate the head (used for MC, etc.).

■Characteristics of ARC thread rolling head

Since it can be installed and used on a CNC lathe, the cutting process and rolling process can be integrated into one CNC lathe. (Example of process integration: Normal lathe processing → press processing → rolling machine processing; improvement example: 3 processes completed in a CNC lathe)

■Materials that can be rolled

Rolling is performed using elastic and plastic forces. When you check the properties of a material using a mill sheet, etc., you will find an item called ``elongation rate'', which corresponds to elasticity. "Tension" is caused by ease of plasticity. The guideline is for materials with an elongation rate of 5% or more and a maximum tension of 1,700N/mm2. Materials that satisfy the above guidelines and have an HRC hardness of 20 or less are easy to roll and are therefore suitable for rolling. On the other hand, if HRC exceeds 30, rolling with a thread rolling head becomes extremely difficult. In Japan, there are examples of its use in materials such as S25C, S45C, SS400, aluminum, brass, SUS303, SUS304, and SUS316. Advantages of rolled screws

■Improved screw strength

Strength is improved by work hardening due to plastic deformation and tighter structure.

■Improvement of surface roughness

The surface is burnished and has a glossy finish.

■Reduction of processing time

Machining time is relatively short due to pitch feeding at high circumferential speed and finishing once.

■Reduction of setup time

Roll life is basically longer than cutting, so tool replacement frequency can be reduced.

■Prevention of burrs, cracks, and rust

As the structure becomes stronger through plastic deformation, the defective rate is drastically reduced.

■Features of thread rolling processing

・Suitable for mass production due to long die life and short processing time ・Basically no chips are generated, so problems such as curling are less likely to occur. ・The strength of the screw itself is higher than that of machined screws (improved residual stress and surface hardness)
