About This Product

■What is a roller burnishing tool?

Roller burnishing is a method that improves surface roughness by pressing a hard roller against the peaks of the sawn marks after turning, moving them to the valleys and reducing the level difference.

■Yamasa roller burnishing tool

Ideal for finishing the surface roughness of workpieces with curved shapes. As an alternative to shot peening to improve the neck strength of bolt parts, deep rolling can also improve fatigue strength.

■Application

- The tool polishes spherical surfaces, contours, cylindrical surfaces with connection radius up to flat surfaces, groove sides, tapered surfaces and flat surfaces. - Machining is performed in one pass after pre-machining. - Provides surface hardness and good dimensional accuracy (measurement accuracy).

■Technical features and advantages

・Perform burnishing of different sizes with the same tool. ・Used in CNC and general-purpose lathes. - Tool design allows right- or left-handed operation. - Requires no configuration and is ready for use when the tool is secured to the machine. - The roller burnishing force is adjustable, so it is possible to achieve high quality and standard roughness values. ・Spring system always applies rolling force. Therefore, it provides a high quality and standard workflow. - Shoulders and other edges can be finished until the end. ・Can be used for all kinds of metal materials with tensile strength of 1400N/mm and hardness of 45HRC. -Easy to replace spare parts. ・Short processing time. - Requires less lubrication (oil or emulsion). ・No chips are generated.

■Tool structure

●The tools are a connecting shank, a precision body, a roller head, and a dial indicator that shows rolling force. ●The dial indicator is IP67 protected and has a waterproof structure. ●Square, cylindrical or VDI shanks are available.

■Notes on roller burnishing processing

Roller burnishing is different from removal processes such as grinding. This is a plastic deformation process in which the crests of the previous machining process are moved to the troughs by a roller. It is not possible to erase scratches from previous processing or modify dimensions.
